Philippe and Gabriel est le nom d\u2019artiste d\u2019un auteur \/ compositeur Suisse bas\u00e9 \u00e0 Malte. Son d\u00e9but album \u201c Les Rivi\u00e8res Folk \u201d a \u00e9t\u00e9 publi\u00e9 en 2021. Il propose un int\u00e9ressant m\u00e9lange de rock et folk musique. Philippe and Gabriel a puis\u00e9 son inspiration dans diff\u00e9rentes cultures de L\u2019Americana \u00e0 la musique traditionnelle folk Africain, aux couleurs latines du Flamenco et du Tengo en travaillant avec des artistes de plusieurs continents. La cr\u00e9ation de ce premier album a \u00e9t\u00e9 un long processus. Philippe and Gabriel est un artiste autodidacte qui joue un peu de guitare, quelques accords de piano, orgue Hammond. Il a travaill\u00e9 durant quelques ann\u00e9es pour am\u00e9liorer son \u00e9criture, travaillant et re travaillant musique et paroles de ses chansons. Son endroit de travail pr\u00e9dilection est dans les caf\u00e9s au bord de la mer o\u00f9 il peut \u00eatre aper\u00e7u les Week ends remplissant des pages de textes et d\u2019id\u00e9es de chansons, utilisant son iPhone pour enregistrer des bribes de musique\u2026puis courir chez lui pour enregistrer et transformer ces \u00e9bauches en maquettes. Durant ces ann\u00e9es d\u2019apprentissage Philippe and Gabriel a d\u00fb construire un petit home studio et apprendre tous les aspects techniques li\u00e9s \u00e0 l\u2019installation des programmes ainsi qu\u2019\u00e0 la prise de son. Afin de garantir que le mix des diff\u00e9rentes harmonies vocales, qui sont sa signature, corresponde \u00e0 sa vision, il a pris en charge toute l\u2019\u00e9dition et le mix des vocaux.<\/p>\r\n

Une fois l\u2019\u00e9bauche des chansons termin\u00e9e Philippe and Gabriel s\u2019est affair\u00e9 \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9criture des arrangements, de la section rythmique, batterie et basse, aux guitares et piano. Son travail l\u2019a amen\u00e9 \u00e0 devoir apprendre \u00e0 composer des arrangements Classique utilisant des violons, des cuivres et flutes sur certaines chansons comme \u201cLes Yeux Ferm\u00e9s\u201d, \u201cLes Bras Tendus\u201d, \u201cAfrican Prayer\u201d.<\/p>\r\n

In order to give a different flavour to some compositions Philippe and Gabriel did reach out to artists based in Senegal for \u201cLa M\u00e9moire\u201d, \u201cAfrican Prayer\u201d and had the chance to collaborate with a local studio to record in Senegal singers and percussions player. On the other side of the world Javier Zacharias did mentor Philippe and Gabriel in the arrangement of classical music. They spent many evenings doing online sessions and discussing how to improve current violins, horns and flues. Javier also kindly agreed to lead the work from his studio for the recording of Argentinian based singer Agus Vivo from the band \u201cLa Femme D\u2019Argent\u201d for her passionate contribution on \u201cLa Nuit\u201d. Mixing this with an Ibiza based Flamenco singer (Azahar L\u00f3pez) and a Sevilla based Flamenco guitar player (Arturo Ramon) gave this special flavour to the song. Final touch has been put with the work of Ali Sehir a Turkey based Viola and Clarinet player who kindly agreed to contribute to the song and recorded in his studio his beautiful parts.<\/p>\r\n

Overall, more than 40 artists have been involved in the album from live jamming to sending ideas back and forth. Project management of the recordings was an intense part of the process. Roberto Tola was very involved as well in all the different administrative aspects of launching an album, copyrights, listing, marketing and has been a key support to finalize the album. Summer 2021 Philippe and Gabriel flew to Sardinia to meet Alberto Erre, sound engineer in Rockhaus Blu Studio for the mix of the album under the watchful eye of Roberto Tola. Alberto delivered a beautiful and emotional mix to the album, giving a very 70\u2019s warm sound to songs like \u201cEnvolez Moi (Acoustic)\u201d.<\/p>\r\n

The complexity of the songs was a challenge in the studio as Philippe and Gabriel likes to work with intricate vocal harmonies and songs like \u201cLa M\u00e9moire\u201d are bringing together Folk French vocals with African choirs and harmonies on more than 30 separate tracks.<\/p>\r\n

Everyone put a lot of heart in the making of this album, and we hope that you will like it.<\/p>\r\n
